What makes you different from other design firms?

Here at Marquis, we both design and build. We are well acquainted with all the necessary technical aspects of bringing your custom project to completion at the highest standards, using only high-quality materials. With many years of experience both designing and building, we know that form without function just doesn’t cut it. Our promise is to deliver a home or workspace that not only matches your preferred aesthetic, but one that is practical to use.

What are your design fees?

Our fees depend on the service you choose, but we generally charge $150/hour or $10/sq. ft.

How long will my project take?

It all depends on the scope of the work. The design development phase can take 1-2 months and we will work with you well into the construction phase.

What is your payment plan?

We require a 50% deposit to start, plus an additional two or three instalments, depending on the scope of the project.

What do I need to do to prepare for the initial consultation?

The best way to prepare for the initial consultation is to fill out our new client intake form. After you submit this form, we will thoroughly review it to ensure that we’re on the same page. This also helps make our first meeting as efficient as possible to make the best of your time.

What can I expect during our first consultation?

Depending on the scope of work, the first consultation will include a walkthrough of your space that you want redesigned or rebuilt. This can be conducted either in-person or virtually. We’ll review the details of the client intake form and come up with a plan for your home renovation.

What comes after the initial consultation?

After the first consultation, we usually follow up by emailing an agreement for you to sign, which outlines the scope of work and payment schedule. Upon signing, we typically require a 50% deposit to begin the work.

Does your firm apply for permits?

Yes, we take care of all the drawings required for permit and take responsibility for the building permit application. Whether you’re interested in minor interior alterations, rear additions, or a completely new custom-built home, we have the team to make it happen.

Can you produce 3D visual designs?

Absolutely! Our team has over 20 years of experience producing 3D drawings, both hand-drawn and computer generated.

Do you work outside of the GTA?

Yes, we have clients all over Ontario and have worked internationally in the past.
