WINDERMERE HOUSE, TURKS & CAICOS
Ok, now…if you are still in the neighbourhood, (Turks & Caicos, Provo Island that is), you must also check out this property! This particular villa houses an Olympic size swimming pool which starts at the front yard of the property, then passes through the living area, under the house, where you can see the water through clear glass floors, all the way to the man-made Chanel, where the owner parks his boat. Did you get all that? I’m not finished! Let’s not forget the floating concrete stairs with glass railing! This was another beautiful collaboration with RA Shaw Designs, where the architecture cannot go unnoticed, including large glass window backsplashes all around the kitchen area, with a flat screen television that would drop down out of the ceiling, in front of the stainless steel exhaust hood fan, all by remote control. We were asked to design many important spaces, including the kitchen, 7 bathroom vanities, the master bathroom – his and her vanities, master walk-in closet, with library ladder to help reach over 10 feet of custom cabinetry storage space, custom linear closets for 5 bedrooms, not to mention the master bedroom night tables, and custom cabinet housing the television at the foot of the bed. This specifically designed cabinet would allow the flat screen television to rise when in use and to lower back down when needed. Again, all by remote control. Key highlights for the kitchen design include upper cabinets with stainless steel frames and frosted glass inserts, complementing the all-around glass windows, and glass backsplash behind the cook top and exhaust fan. We have to mention, Edward was trying hard to focus and take all the required measurements while on site, and he was almost eaten alive by all the mosquitos! When Edward was there, the villa was missing doors and windows, and there was absolutely no protection from the wild life on the island. He truly risked his life for the love of custom design!
